ABOUT US

TOTALFIT PREMIUM  WATER is one of the few alkaline drinking waters currently on the market that does not use an electrical process called electrolysis to produce its high alkaline water. Many alkaline drinking waters on the market use electrolysis to raise the alkalinity of the water. Some even use chemical additives to raise the alkalinity.

Electrolysis refers to the breakdown of a substance by passing an electric current through it. The method by which bottled water production companies raise the pH of their water involves electrically charging the water to induce ionic separation. This, however, creates a high pH that is very unstable, because once the electrical charge is removed, the pH of the water goes back to what it was before the charge was introduced.

The ionization of water is the separation of the H2O molecules into hydrogen ions (H+) and hydroxide ions (OH–) using an electric device. Once the electric current is removed, the hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions recombine again to form H2O, and the water is no longer alkaline.

For electrolysis to even be possible, water needs to have a conductor, and H2O by itself doesn’t conduct electricity. There is no or very low ionic mineral content in tap water or typical bottled water, therefore electrolysis will have very limited effect. Tap water and most bottled waters consist mostly of hard minerals – i.e. mineral compounds – and some of these mineral compounds conduct electricity (ionize in water) and some don’t.

Other alkaline waters as well as other waters (spring, tap, naturally-sourced, etc.) have hard minerals derived from soil or ground rock that can build up internally over time (causing things like kidney stones and gallstones) while TOTALFIT PREMIUM WATER uses traces of natural absorbable ionic alkaline minerals that are essential and easily accepted by your body.

Ionic minerals are easily soluble or absorbable, bio available and necessary to the body. The fact is you can make inexpensive high pH water in a variety of ways including mixing baking soda in a glass of tap water to raise the pH. However, this does not mean it will bear any additional benefits or is safe for human consumption. Most common methods of making alkaline waters are limited to an unstable and short-lived alkaline pH state with dead minerals.
